Katrina
Marie
was born
in Washington State in 1977 on her
mother’s birthday. As a little girl, with three younger
brother’s she spent most of her time creating paper dolls
and sewing doll clothes on her mother's machine. She knew at the very
young age of five that she wanted to be a fashion designer. Her parents, believing in the power of
dreams, would say: “you can be anything that you want” and
encouraged her continually. At the age of ten her family
moved to Tucson, Arizona where she grew up being a part of her
parents many businesses, from craft products and home décor
to wearable art and handmade jewelry.
As a
teenager she was making clothing for herself and
her friends and had a clothing label printed. She would also
help with her parents business by modeling clothing and jewelry,
designing jewelry and demonstrating at shows. At any chance she would attend craft festivals
or tradeshow with her parents, to have a space to
display her creations whether it was doll clothes, jewelry or
clothing. By seventeen she had sewn professionally for alterations shops,
worked as a retail fashion sales assistant, made costumes for
the Gaslight theatre, created swim & dance wear at Jazzskins,
and attended college for a fashion degree.
So, at nineteen starting her own business making historically
inspired clothing was a natural progression.

remodeling and restoring their Victorian house, as well as,
being a violinmaker.
Katrina Marie

Katrina Marie
is an artist and designer first and foremost. Her style is a unique
combination of historically inspired gowns with a touch of modern
romance. Her simple and elegant designs are usually made with
comfortable knit fabrics. She prefers working with any material that
has a slight stretch and usually designs with stretch velvets and
panne in rich jewel tone colors. She feels that
"being comfortable is very important"
and designs most of her gowns with this in mind. Her choice of
fabrics, simple cuts and easy construction make her gowns a very
desirable option for the modern bride that wants to be comfortable.
Her designs are flattering to a women body and fit with very little
alteration.
Katrina Marie
avoids zippers and does not feel they are necessary in the
construction of a well fitting gown. In some cases such as a corset
styled gown she prefers lacing through grommets or loop trims. Most
of her skirts are flowing circular cuts which she much prefers over
gathering and netting. Her gowns are mostly A-line styles, but gowns
that require fullness can be worn over crinoline slips and hoop
skirts.
"We wear comfortable
clothing everyday, with knit tops and stretch jeans, why would we
wear any thing different for a special occasion or our wedding day?"
